ALSOD is made possible by the participation of people with ALS in research projects, the collective efforts of ALS researchers, and the organisations that have funded the work. Ammar Al-Chalabi, Nigel Leigh, Aleks Radunovic, Ian Gowrie, Olubumni Abel and Sarah Opie-Martin have at various points maintained the database and website interface.

Updates to variants for many genes in ALSOD since 2015 have been taken from the supplementary material of Emily McCann et al (2021), which has been a valuable resource.
